The start of the season have promised nothing more then relegation to Serie B for Livorno, after couple of solid seasons with elite. In the last round, Amaranti have won against Empoli in not so interesting match. Match was decided by penalty scored by former Empoli player and international, Ciccio Tavano, but real hero was Marco Amelia. Reserve goalkeeper in Italian squad saved couple of one-on-one chances and had been the man of the match. Amelia proved himself once again just in right moment after his last week clash with Atletico goalkeeper Cristiano Abbiati who told to the press that Amelia is in the Italian squad as Buffon reserve, just because of his looks.
