Sunderland v Wigan 2:0 HOME(-0.25)

Post by: kather on October 8th, 2008 | File Under bettingguide

Another one I really like for Saturday is Sunderland to beat Wigan. Roy Keane has done a great job so far, and his men perform at a very high level when their home matches are concerned. Maybe they didn’t do anything at Anfiled Road last week, but from what I’ve seen so far at Stadium of Light, the Black Cats are a nut hard to crack for many EPL sides, and as Wigan don’t quite feel comfortable on the road, a home win looks like a decent and probable outcome.

They’ve missed like 4-5 regulars against Birmingham, and they were still great, so there’s no concern for me at this point. Even if they don’t get their best available squad, I’m sure they can damage Wigan pretty well. The Latics shined last round against West Ham, but generally they’ve been more than poor this year.

To be noted that Sunderland have lost twice already against Wigan, with the same 3-0 score. It’s happened in the first half of the season and then in a FA Cup clash, don’t think it has a major relevance though, but might be an advantage as the Black Cats might be eager to take their revenge somehow.

Derby v Tottenham 0:3 AWAY(-1)

Post by: kather on October 8th, 2008 | File Under bettingguide

If you remember I used to back Derby a couple of times and got burned every time. It’s not that I hate them, I actually enjoy the way they “fight and fight and fight” round by round, and every goal scored is piece of gold for them. I’m only sorry for their great fans that will probably see their team in Championship next season, as there’s no other option for this side, that is the worst in EPL for certain.

One interesting thing I’ve noticed with Derby, they tend to do better on the road. Maybe it was not the case in the first half of the season, but from what they’ve shown of late, that’s a fact we should consider. I mean, you go to Bolton and play on the same foot, and then get thrashed at home with Wigan? They were actually fortunate to only lose 1-0, as the Latics have had loads of chances, and it’s happened against Blackburn and City too. The same amateurish mistakes in defence, and the same incapacity of playing decent football.

What’s strange with this team is that they always think they can do it, I mean they rush forward like they had Nistelrooy and Messi up front, meanwhile their defence stays predisposed to counter-attacks from the other side, which usually kills them round by round. If they played clever defensive-minded football they could have had a chance to survive, and take Birmingham or Wigan for instance, two teams that don’t have a lot more quality, but who perform much better due to their smart tactic. And it mostly happens at home, probably because of their fans who cheer them up, that’s a disadvantage in this case as Derby pushing is suicidal in my view.

And Tottenham Hotspur are the perfect side to thrash a team like Derby. It’s going to be a scenario of the first match between them two, with Spurs winning 4-0 in a match that could have easily ended 7-0. They got fast wingers and wise strikers, and the attack is their main weapon, hence I’m going with the Spurs.

Bolton v Portsmouth 0:1 AWAY(0)

Post by: kather on October 8th, 2008 | File Under bettingguide

The Bolton manager was praising their defence in an interview, up to a certain point he’s right as the Trotters do have indeed a decent defence, however that mainly comes from the fact that they play very close and rely a lot on crosses and set pieces, it’s a team that completely lacks imagination up front if you ask me.

They haven’t concede for 3 rounds in a row BUT pay attention which teams they played: Newcastle who look like from other planet with their new manager, Fulham who play again VERY defensive-minded football, and then Reading who are not in their best shape, and what’s worse for them is that they lack a solid defence either, hence the Bolton victory. Nolan was free like a bird in the penalty box before he scored, only a crappy defence like Reading’s could allow such mistake, and against Pompey that won’t happen.

I used to go like crazy against Pompey a while ago, but it’s not the case now. Kanu will get back in England only at the end of the week, and their top scorer Benjani plays for City now, but they brought Baros and Defoe of late, so I think they somehow solved their problems up front, the last actually scored a goal on his debut against Chelsea last round.

The reason I go with Pompey this time is because I think they got more quality in their team, I like the way they create chances, I mean they know to press the opponents, and as the Trotters will probably play “smart” and block the spaces, I’m sure the visitors will sooner or later find spaces and hopefully score.

If they played a few months ago it would have been a clear +0.25:-0.25 situation, how many things have changed since? Not many if you ask me, Pompey didn’t show much all this time but they didn’t play the right opponents either. Pompey level ball is the call thus.

PSG v Le Mans 0:0 Over 2.5 goals

Post by: kather on October 8th, 2008 | File Under bettingguide

PSG started the season with a lot of optimism, but they soon stopped to see that anything more than the middle of the standings is a success for this team. Weak play in Paris are the reason for weak status because the Saints are the best guests in the league. Still, the things are improving. Le Guen seems to have managed to recover the team and they started to win at home. They won twice in a row and it immediately reflected on the standings. They leapfrogged to 12th place only three points adrift of the dangerous zone and they must continue playing good at Parc des Princes.
They have the reasons for optimism. Defense is flawless and they haven’t conceded a single goal in the last five matches which is not typical of them. The attack finally started working. Three goals scored in the each of the last two matches in Paris and excellent play of Rothen, Luyindula signal the continuation of PSG’s positive series.
They weren’t brilliant in the last round but defense did their work excellently and took a valuable point from Lens.
They won’t be able to count on Pauleta and Digardo but it seems that have a lot of inspired players that can be quality replacements.
Le Mans managed to take points after four successive losses. Monaco were the losers. They managed to score early , by the middle of the first half and managed to keep the lead till the very end. It was only a matter of time when they will end the series and start marking positive results. Due to the African Cup of Nations they are without some important players: Kouassi, Ndri and Kieta and on the other hand they have several injured ones. Bassa, Loriot, Pele and the best scorer of the team fourth in the league, De Melo are still out of the team.
Very important points were picked up against Monaco and they can continue good play. They need not worry about their status because the players are coming back from Africa and when they are complete they will easily breach to the top. They are a quality team and it takes a miracle for them to be in the dangerous zone.

Bayer Leverkusen v Hamburg 1:1 Over 2.5 goals

Post by: kather on October 8th, 2008 | File Under bettingguide

Leverkusen managed to neutralise the minimum first half lead of Cottbus and in the last minutes provide a victory. The man of the game was definitely Rolfs who score the neutralizer and then the winning goal.

Coach Skibbe decided to field a more careful line-up in 4-2-3-1 form which is kind of logical having in mind that Leverkusen leapfrogged Hamburger in the last round. The home fans will be rejoiced by the news that captain Schneider is recovered and back in the team. Last two championship duels with Hamburger Factory Squad lost at home and everyone in the club hopes that the negative streak could be ended this weekend. The fact that Castro is suspended, Sarpei absent and Haggui, Ramelov and Domaschker absent certainly doesn’t favour them.
Hamburger will play in best 32 game in UEFA Cup by the middle of the week when they will cross swords with FC Zurich. In the last round Hamburger managed to fight a draw at home against much better Hannover.

Coach Stevens will field Reinhardt in the back line instead of Kompany, who will be moved to the midfield. When it comes to Stevens he doesn’t back out on his 4-2-3-1 form so this time too Hamburger will play with only one forward. This will most likely be Olic who was the only one to score a goal in the last round and once again showed that this is one of his best seasons since he already managed to score eight times. Dutch tandem van Der Vaart and De Jong will be in charge of the midfield while Demel and Boateng will take care of defense. Zidan and Atouba won’t be able to support their team since they are in the African Cup as well as Sorin and Castalen who are injured.

Ipswich-Watford 1:2 X

Post by: kather on October 8th, 2008 | File Under bettingguide

outstanding game between two of the best teams at the England Championship will be at this game and will fight on an value 3 points that might give them better chnces to be at the Primier Leauge next season.Ipswich for this game located at the 6th palce with 45 points from 30 games and they seems ready for the perimier this season, speciality at home game where they won 11 games and made 4 draw’s without any lose so far.they dident lost last 5 games and last gmae they won at away 2-1 against Sheffiled Wed’.Watford instead come to this game when tehy have bad form latley, but they still strong at the race to the perimier when they located 2nd with 52 points so far and after great won 3-0 on Wolves.it seems to me that both of this teams will play not to lose,Watford know that it wont be easy and Ipswich wont let them run with 3 points i think that both of the tema will take the draw with open arms.

Post by: kather on October 8th, 2008 | File Under bettingguide

the best bet at this betting day IMO,i know that Leeds know are in thier weakest form at hole season and they lose games without any reason but any team have some bad games and i think that today it will be over for them, they far now 5 points from the place that will give them the ticket to the Chempionship and i think they wont lose any points like that any more.Northhampton for mr is a solid team that wont get anything from this season and cant compere to fantastic team like Leeds, also for this game they probebly will miss thier best scorer due to injurey problem what means it will be hard thing for them to score.i think that Leeds will score quick goal with a lot of pressure and will get this advantge till the end of the game.

Everton-Reading 1:0 Everton (-1) AH

Post by: kather on October 8th, 2008 | File Under bettingguide

This year Everton had proved that they are realy a top team in Premier League and they deserved this position on the table at the moment. IMO if to compare this team with Liverpool I will say that there are no diference in power, so only because this team is named “Everton” and not “Liverpool” are offering this handicap. On the other hand Reading are a team which have a poor defence, especialy in their away games, and allways teams like these against organized teams have big problems, cause first you have to defend and after that try to attack, defenders are the base in a soccer game. “Everton have left out Ayegbeni Yakubu after he returned late from the Africa Nations Cup but his Nigerian team-mate Joseph Yobo is in contention. Steven Pienaar (ankle) and Leighton Baines (calf) are doubts, while Victor Anichebe and Anthony Gardner are out. Reading defender Ivar Ingimarsson is suspended while Bobby Convey (knee) is in the USA receiving treatment. Cameroon’s Andre Bikey is banned for the Africa Cup of Nations final but will stay with the team in Ghana. ” from BBC

Roma v Reggina 2:0 HOME(-1.5)

Post by: kather on October 8th, 2008 | File Under bettingguide

What’s happened against Siena was an accident I believe, could have been lack of concentration, a bad day or whatever, the true is that the Romans are in top form this year , and as far as their home matches go I think they can thrash any team in Serie A presently. In fact it’s better for us that they lost 3-0, at least we can count somehow on their spirit and maybe added motivation to bounce back when they face Reggina on Saturday.

Reggina look like relegating this year, as they don’t seem to be improving. Two rounds ago they played Milan at home, lost 0-1 in the end, in a match where they clearly showed their weakness at the back as Milan could have easily scored 4-5 goals judging by their chances. Another humiliation expected thus.

Pisa Cesena 3:0 over 2.5

Post by: kather on October 8th, 2008 | File Under bettingguide

Pisa reached the ninth away from home win in this season in the last round against Frosinone, they didn’t lose a single match in the last three months. Now the Ventura’s team is a serie B reality, their attackers Castillo and Kutuzov are unstoppable above all in the away from home match, in fact when Pisa have to play in front of their fans Pisa face problem to overcome the opponent. The recent results confirm this trend in the last 3 matches at home they collected two draws (against Bologna and Bari) and a win against Ravenna (only 1-0). Reading the table their greater problem is to be able to score at home (only 13 goals at home against the 28 scored in the away from home match).

Atalanta Fiorentina 2:2 2(0:0)ah

Post by: kather on October 8th, 2008 | File Under bettingguide

Atalanta have to face this angry Fiorentina without some important players in their line up. First of all will miss their best forward Cristiano Doni, out for suspension but also the other absences are important for this team, in fact Bellini, Carrozieri, Talamonte and Guarente are all fundamental players for this team. Atalanta, after a promising beginning of the season, only a defeat in the first 12 matches, in the middle part of the season are going through a negative period, in fact in the last nine matches they collected 6 defeats.

Aston Villa-Newcastle 4:1 2

Post by: kather on October 8th, 2008 | File Under bettingguide

after 8 games without a win at Afton Park will be love to get something liek this against Aston Villa.Newcastles style under Keegan will probably be little different from Allardyce’s in the sense that its 6 or 7 to defend (dependant on opposition) and 5 or 4 to attack, and once anaylsed this way its fair to say that although Newcastles defence doesnt compare to the organisation of Villa, their matchwinners are better so i dont see how a team who is struggling to perform against one who is almost their equal in terms of player capabilities if not more so, once confiedence is there, can be so over priced. Plus this with a tremendous record at the stadium for the club, the impetus of a new ‘popular’ manager amongst the players who has at one point to get his message across because they have to accept, and most are willing to, that he is their for the long term so they might aswell get on board. Milner is in form and i expect him to be told to shoot on sight tomorrow, if anyone fancies an anytime goalscorer bet at longer odds.

Sevilla - Barca 1:1 2

Post by: kather on October 8th, 2008 | File Under bettingguide

Barca reduced the gap to 1st place to 6 points but they suffered to do so and especially on the road los cules have been facing many difficulties since the beginning of the campaign. In ten away games so far, they won just three, rock bottom Levante, troubled (at that time) Valencia and Mallorca, while in their last exit they were forced in a draw at San Mames. Bojan Krkic (gastroenteritis) and Zambrotta (injured) are definitely out, while Deco and Sylvinho are the latest to join the absences list composed by Puyol, Ezquerro, Jorquera, Eto’o and Yaya Touré. Cause of the numerous absences, Márquez and Giovani were forced in the squad, but they just yesterday returned from international duties in which Xavi, Iniesta, Bojan, Henry, Abidal, Thuram, Deco, Etoo and Touré Yaya were also involved… Thankfully, Ronaldinho and Edmilson are available but Rijkaard won’t give Dinho a starting role despite the numerous absences.

Fulham took all the three points from its last encounter against Aston Villa,so they did a great job.In weekend they travel to Middlesbrough. The situation is that I don’t think they will be that lucky again.Middlesbrough play at home and they would have to take advantage of this, because not every day brings you the opportunity to meet bottom teams.Hosts are in raise of form. They will dominate the match and will succeed in imposing themselves on the pitch. They have the power to score so I see home team to win here.

Ravenna Bologna 1:1 2

Post by: kather on October 8th, 2008 | File Under bettingguide

Bologna have finally found the right way to grab the promotion, this year, in fact the team seem to be more concentrated and respect the pat years they have a solid defensive line (only 12 goals conceded until now). Now with the Bucchi’s arrival, experienced man for this serie, they have completed, in my eyes, also their attack line. Ravenna in the last home match destroyed Mantova, 5-2 the result, but only a week later they lost for 5-0 against Ascoli and now? I think that Ravenna could still try to avoid the relegation but against team like Bologna they have no chances. An AW for me

Grosseto Albinoleffe 2:2 x

Post by: kather on October 8th, 2008 | File Under bettingguide

Grosseto is very closed to the relegation zone, their 25 points means only 4 more than the last play out zone. In the lately matches they highlighted some problems, in the last two matches they conceded 6 goals to their opponent losing the last two matches in a row. At home Grosseto collected 6 wins and the major part of their points 22 out of their actual 25. As regard Albinoleffe they started to lose point in this part of championship, and this is the same thing that happened the last year. They are still involved in the promotion battle but they are having problem to score, in the last 6 matches they scored only against Spezia and Frosinone.

Avellino will host Frosinone in the next home match and for Irpini this match have to be a must win match otherwise their future will be very hard. They are again too close to the relegation zone, only a goal difference avoid to them to stay in the last play out position available. At home Avellino played good matches, in the last three matches at home Avellino won twice and draw once.

Vicenza Bari 2:3 1

Post by: kather on October 8th, 2008 | File Under bettingguide

In this season Vicenza have still zero in their own home win column. After the January transfer campaign they have a stronger team with the new names like Bernardini, Masiello and Zampagna. The last one could be the right man to solve some matches in the next future but after having scored the first goal in the beginning match, Zampagna didn’t play due injury.
