Portsmouth vs Chelsea 1:1 Chelsea (AH:-0.5,-1)

Portsmouth have been struggling in recent weeks and Chelsea have been thoroughly professional, grinding out the results and ensure success on the pitch. While both teams have been short handed with players moving for the African Cup of Nations. But Nicolas Anelka has been playing well even though he has just opened his account last week, he has been deadly in the last third of the pitch, setting up and creating chances. The midfield of Ballack, Joe Cole, SWP and Malouda have been simply superb backed up by Makelele, is the reason why they haven’t conceded goals. I have an amazing statistic for everyone, which really puts the onus on Pompey, they have lost 7 out of 7 games against Chelsea in the league over the last 4 years and Chelsea look to dominate early times, get the goal and then sit back and attack on the counter attack. I don’t see Defoe passing Cech on his opening game in the league and Chelsea should continue to get the result they liked.

Derby vs Manchester City 1:1 Manchester City (AH:-0.5,-1)

While Manchester City is one of the worst away teams in the Premiership, the situation has completely changed for them as they need to get wins, in order to ensure a solid chance of grabbing that UEFA Cup spot with pressure mounting from Aston Villa, Blackburn and Everton. It’s finally showing that the Premier League has a godo battle between team 4 to 8, which is leaving the race very interesting. Manchester City have been dismal on their away trips and none can be worse than the loss to Sheffield United team in the FA Cup. Derby are no less, losing to relegation battlign Preston as well despite many signings made. In order to maintain this pressure on teams that are lower than them, they are going to have to chalk up the results especially with a team thats sure for relegation. Points like these determine a lot, and after the loss on Sunday, you can expect Eriksson to field his strongest unit to try and hammer Derby County.

Livorno v Juventus 1:3 Livorno +0.5, +1

The start of the season have promised nothing more then relegation to Serie B for Livorno, after couple of solid seasons with elite. In the last round, Amaranti have won against Empoli in not so interesting match. Match was decided by penalty scored by former Empoli player and international, Ciccio Tavano, but real hero was Marco Amelia. Reserve goalkeeper in Italian squad saved couple of one-on-one chances and had been the man of the match. Amelia proved himself once again just in right moment after his last week clash with Atletico goalkeeper Cristiano Abbiati who told to the press that Amelia is in the Italian squad as Buffon reserve, just because of his looks. Even those accusations are pretty weird they have been the great press material for Italian journalists.
