James Blake vs. Marin Cilic 6:3, 6:4, 6:4 Over 41 Games

The biggest suprise of the AO has to be 19 year old Croatian, who has reached the 4th round by beating some really great players like Almagro, Melzer and #7 seed and last year finalist Gonzalez. He came this far thanks to his great serve, especially his first serve is lethal. Blake was also pretty impressive against Massu and Russell, in 3rd he was 2 sets down against Grosjean, but then he made super comeback and advanced in the 4th round. He also has a good serve, it won’t be easy to break his serve, but his most powerful weapon is his strong forehand, that will surely cause Cilic some problems. It will be hard for Blake to defeat in-form Cilic, but Blake much experienced on this level and this could be crucial today or his win. Although I’m giving Blake more chances to win, IMO it won’t be in straight sets and since I see both serves hard to break I expect tiebreaks and large number of games played.

Going to back the third favourite in a row at this stage of the competition,I juts think the handicap should be much bigger here considering that Nalbandian is a solid player on any souface, and that he’s been so great in 2007,why not continue the run in 2008.He beat 6-1 6-1 7-6 Robert Smeets is his first official match of the season, and will be facing now Peter Luczak. The Australian might jave the crowd on his side, but even this way I don’t think he can create problems to world class players like Nalbandian.Luczak sent home Zabaleta in the first round, but the last was never great on hard, hence Luczak’s victory. Can only see a 3-0 victory for David, the handicap option is the call.
